Bringing the beats on Family Day, Ethnik Festivals will be presenting both Skinny Blaiz, Afropop artist, and Ray Val, R&B singer and songwriter, to the RISE UP Calgary Outdoor Community Stage for a lunchtime set!
Skinny Blaiz is a talented Nigerian-born artist, songwriter, and performer known for his dynamic fusion of Afrobeat, hip-hop, and dancehall music. With his unique style and compelling sound, he has quickly gained recognition in both local and international music scenes. Skinny Blaiz’s music often blends vibrant African rhythms with modern influences, creating a fresh and catchy sound that appeals to a wide range of listeners.
Ray Val started off singing and dancing her way across the stage since she could walk, a musician playing piano to acoustic guitar, writing songs as a recording artist. Ray has always had a love for acting, and landed a full-length feature film (Vagrant). She attended The Canadian Model and Talent Convention (2019) Winning 2 trophies in Self Tape and a Cover Girl Commerical. Ray also does professional theatre. You may remember her from Jubilations Dinner theater, “Old time Rock and Roll” 2019/2023, “GreaseD” or “Night at the Museum of Rockstars” Her latest performances with New West Theatre in Lethbridge, Alberta -“Legends of Rock and Country” and “Totally 80s’!” 2024. Ray has released Christmas Blues album, and a few singles and is currently working on her next original Album. Her heart belongs on the stage and she is so grateful to be performing here with you today! big thanks to all of you for supporting live performances, and everyone that made this show happen.
