About

This is a free event open to the public to celebrate Seollal (the Korean Lunar New Year Day) with games, cultural performances, live music, and dancing. The focus will be to share how the Korean community celebrates the Lunar New Year (one of the 2 major holidays in Korea). All Calgarians are welcome to join and enjoy, and feel the Korea. We hope that our cheerful, family-friendly, community-oriented celebration would be the emotional pick-me-up many Calgarians need to get through the depressing low of the year.

*Performances (stage) including:
– Master Rim’s Taekwondo (Korean martial arts demonstration)
– New Life K-Pop Band
– DancerYoo Dance Academy (K-Pop dance)
– Kang’s Samullori (traditional Korean percussion)

*Activities (mezzanine and lobby) including:
– Calgary Korean School (write your name in Hangul (Korean script) with ink calligraphy)
– Ddakji-chigi (traditional Korean game of skill incorporated into the “Squid Games” TV show)
– Tuho (traditional stick-throwing Korean game of skill)
– Se-bae (a traditional Korean bowing/greeting ceremony used to wish a happy New Year)
– Other informational booths from various Korean groups in Calgary
