The ImaginAsian Showcase features the sights, sounds and cultural sensation of Calgary’s diverse Asian Canadian communities. Calgarians will experience the vibrant, dynamic, and diverse genres of performances from Asian Jazz, pop and traditional music including rendition of ‘Frozen’ in 20 languages & dialects. Get energized with Dragon Dance, Korean drumming, and Martial Art demonstrations. Experience intercultural embracement of Canadian winter by communities from tropical Asian regions.
The Golden Imperial Dragon will come to life amidst the flurry of drum beats and percussion, awakening to bring prosperity and good fortune to the patrons and participants of your event and the community at large.
Mantra Performing and Language Arts Society of Calgary is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and celebrating the rich tapestry of global cultures through vibrant performing arts and diverse language education. Build an ecosystem providing a holistic approach to promote, learn, showcase, classical, folk Music, Dance, languages.
JazzYYC is Calgary’s jazz collaborative, supporting musicians, audiences, and education year-round. This concert is a co-presentation of the Asian Heritage Foundation and JazzYYC. The Izy Montanez Quartet is a group of young musicians reimagining OPM (Original Pilipino Music) through the lens of jazz, while also drawing inspiration from broader Asian musical traditions.
The purpose of the Club is to operate as a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization. Our objective is to foster closer cooperation among members and the general public through social and cultural activities.
The first song is “Winter Dreams”, a beautiful song written for the Beijing Winter Olympics, celebrating unity, perseverance, and the spirit of the Games. Second song is “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman, a powerful ballad about ambition and the pursuit of dreams. And third one, if we have time, “Because We Believe”, a heartfelt anthem of hope, courage, and faith in what lies ahead.
Emerging from Calgary, The GCB (Qing Lan) is a collective that harmonizes the soul of the East with the spirit of rock. Their sound is a tapestry of classical Chinese motifs and contemporary Western rhythms, painting a sonic picture that is both ancient and avant-garde. The GCB invites listeners of all backgrounds to embark on a transformative journey through time and culture.
